The Sustainable Jean Project is an annual event at Shih Chien University in Taiwan, where students design and create their own classic 5-pocket jeans with a creative and sustainable twist. We are proud sponsors of this innovative and inspiring project, supplying the students with our high-quality selvedge denim fabrics for their garment crafting.

What’s the Sustainable Jean Project?

The Sustainable Jean Project is a platform for students at Shih Chien University to express their creativity. They design their own classic 5-pocket jeans with an innovative touch, experimenting with different fits, pocket designs, and details using our selvedge denim fabrics. This year, the students used our 13 oz rigid denim for their projects, showcasing their talent and dedication.

This hands-on experience is designed to help students learn essential skills in the fashion industry and gain a deeper understanding of sustainable practices. It emphasizes the importance of choosing premium materials from trusted suppliers to nurture a new generation of conscious designers. Thus, it links creativity with sustainability.

Education is crucial to fostering a more sustainable fashion industry

The partnership with Candiani Denim has lasted for many editions of the Sustainable Jean Project and has been one of its crucial and successful aspects. Our denim fabrics have been selected over the years not only for their premium quality but also for their sustainable features.

Therefore, the project aims to be more than just a class assignment; it seeks to serve as a testament to the potential of education in promoting a more sustainable fashion system. Students not only showcase their talent through their designs but also contribute to an in-depth dialogue about the future of fashion. Our denim fabrics help equip them to have a long-lasting impact on the industry.
